Participatory budget 2021 - 2022 Implementation period: Decembar 2020 - Mart 2022 Donor:IOM

The Association of Election Officials in BiH (UIZBiH) is implementing a project called "Participatory Budgeting" from January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2021. Participatory budgeting is an initiative implemented in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), within the project Support to Youth in Local Communities in BiH, supported by the Government of the United Kingdom.

UIZBiH has implemented many notable activities related to citizen participation in the decision-making process at the local level. One of the projects is Participatory, which was implemented in six municipalities in BiH: Breza, East Ilidža, Kiseljak, Kreševo, Trnovo RS, and Vareš in the period 2017 - 2019.

"Participatory budgeting" is a project that aims to create a favorable environment for active participation and cooperation of citizens, political representatives, and civil servants. The overall goal of the project is to engage young people with the wider community in considering and deciding on the distribution of shares in the municipal public budget.

An important factor for the readiness and motivation for citizen participation in the public life of the community is to give them opportunities to participate in the decision-making process. Our goal is to involve citizens in decision-making processes at the local level. The principle of participatory budgeting (PB) can improve the transparency of municipal work and encourage citizen participation. Through this process, citizens can offer their ideas and projects that they find useful for the community and think they should be supported through the municipal budget. Through a series of activities that include workshops and public gatherings, citizens will have the opportunity to choose proposals for support. The municipalities of Jablanica and Foča are participating in this cycle.
