"Involvement of young people in public life at the local level in BiH" Implementation period: 01.03. - 31.12.2018

UIZBIH is implementing the second round of the project entitled "Involvement of young people in public life at the local level in BiH" from March 1, 2018, to October 31, 2018, thanks to the funds of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in BiH.

"Involvement of young people in public life at the local level in BiH" is an educational program that aims to increase the participation of young people in public life at the local level and contribute to the functionality of local government in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on the active participation of young citizens. We know from our experience that the transformation of society is long-term and that it begins with the civic education of the younger generations. They can very quickly become the main drivers of change. Our goal is to increase the participation of young people in public life at the local level. Young people need to learn how they can make a difference and become interested in what is happening in public life at the local level. The way of working takes place through an attractive form of simulation of municipal council sessions combined with practical examples where students in teams prepare strategies at the municipal level, work in collaboration with real representatives of their community and learn interactively how to solve problems in the community.

Training for students lasts 2 days. Students identify problems in the municipality and prepare proposals for solving certain issues or problems, after which a simulation of the municipal council session is organized. In the simulation, students have the role of councilors, and the Chairman of the Council leads the simulation as an actual session.

The implementation of this project took place in 10 high schools and 10 municipalities. The project involved 178 students and professors and 24 council representatives.
