Project „ Active Citizens School and systemic changes in the teaching of civic education in Bosnia and Hercegovina“

UIZBIH implemented the project entitled "School of active citizens and systemic changes in the teaching of civic education in Bosnia and Herzegovina" from March 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, thanks to funds from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

This project is part of an educational program that aims to increase the participation of young people in public life at the local level and contributes to the functionality of local government in Bosnia and Herzegovina based on the active participation of young citizens. We know from our experience that the transformation of society is long-term and that it starts with civic education of young generations.

As part of the project, professors, pedagogues and students participated in a training/educational camp that lasted 3 days. The topics of the education were: dialogue and the culture of dialogue, active participation of citizens, Obligations and duties of citizens and compliance with the law, and writing project proposals. During the education, students identified problems in the municipality/school and prepared proposals for solving them, after which they implemented them.

The students implemented the following projects for which about 600.00 KM was spent per school (9,000.00 KM in total). LIST OF PROJECTS: 1-Breza-Gymnasium "Muhsin Rizvić"-"Hygiene is half of health" - Reconstruction of toilets for students - Professor Dženita Uzunalić and Pedagogue Aldina Džanko

2-Olovo-JU MSŠ "Musa Ćazim Ćatić" Olovo-"Sit down, rest!" - procurement and placement of benches in the school corridor - Professor Elvedina Mujezin

3-Mostar-JU Mostar Secondary School of Construction - "A more pleasant stay and modernization of education" - procurement and installation of air conditioning in the classroom - Professor Fuad Tanković

4-Hadžići-SŠC "Hadžići"-"Creative classroom" - through the project blackboards, a flip chart stand and papers, markers, and other means for interactive work were acquired.-Professor Ifeta Turčinović

5-Ilijaš-High School Center "Nedžad Ibrišimović" Ilijaš-"Sit and rest!" - procurement of materials and construction and placement of benches and bins in the school yard.-Professor Dragana Kartal

6-Visoko - Franciscan Classical High School - "Book corner" - purchase of books in English - Professor Mersiha Čutura

7-Kakanj-Gymnasium "Muhsin Rizvić"-"Bike Rack" - installation of racks for parking bicycles-professors Muris Asčalić and Alma Mahmutović

8-Sarajevo-Secondary school for textiles, leather, and design-"Presentation to reputation" - purchase microphones and speakers for school work-Alma Ahmethodžić M.Sc.

9-Sarajevo-Second High School-Filming of the film: "The pension is getting smaller, and the basket is getting bigger"-Professor Muamer Muratović

10-Sarajevo-High School of Music Sarajevo-"Courtyard in colors" - setting up benches in the schoolyard-Professor Amra Ajdin

11-Sarajevo-JU Third Gymnasium Sarajevo-"Classroom of goodwill" - provide adequate space for students' extracurricular work (studying, repeating material, writing assignments, exchanging books, instructions...)-Professor Đuldina Kurtović

12-Sarajevo-High School for Traffic and Communications Sarajevo - "Generation Park" - landscaping of the school yard - Professor Igor Smiljanić

13-Sarajevo-Srednja medical school Sarajevo-"Sport to health" - procurement of nets and balls for volleyball and basketball-Professor Igor Smiljanić

14-Sarajevo-Srednja construction - surveying school Sarajevo-"Foundation of knowledge / Bearer of words" - procurement of shelves for the library-Professor Amra Baždar

15-Sarajevo-Mechanical Technical High School Sarajevo-"Magic Corner" - arrangement of the library and reading room in the school-Professor Amra Ajdin.

As part of the project, a Handbook for professors and teachers - Communication and critical thinking (local language) is created, which can be used by all professors, and you can download it from the link at the end of the text.
